Laser assisted endodontics is becoming more common and accepted in dentistry. Many protocols exist without much consensus. More research studies are being conducted to support and verify protocols. There is good reason to embrace lasers in endodontics due to the claims of biofilm disruption; antibacterial effects deeper into dentin; enhanced debridement of isthmuses, lateral canals, and dentinal tubules; increased effectiveness of irrigating solutions; and more. Compared to syringe irrigation, endosonic and ultrasonic units, laser assisted endodontics through the action of photoacoustics offers a more effective means of debridement and disinfection of the root canal system.
