Dental Traumatic Injuries: Striving for the Best Outcome

Javits Convention Center 11th Ave Between 34th & 39th Street, New YorkThe incidence of dental trauma is highest in the first two decades of life, and hence, the young permanent anterior teeth are of particular importance in traumatic injuries. Successful retention of these teeth is paramount to long-term esthetic, function and health of not just the oral cavity but also the physiological impact the loss may have on these young patients. This presentation reviews the latest guidelines by IADT and AAE, to understand how and why they have changed over time. Treatment options and prognosis for each type of injury based on the biological goals is reviewed, and current literature discussed.
